About Us

Cuba Art NY (CANY) is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization that promotes the work of contemporary Cuban born artists living outside of Cuba. The organization was founded in 2001 by a small group of art enthusiasts.  The CANY Board of Directors and advisors are all volunteers.

CANY has organized many highly-successful group and individual exhibits that have benefitted artists by displaying and selling their work in high-end galleries mostly in New York’s Chelsea district. Exhibit net revenues have all been used to further our mission by: organizing lectures in galleries and universities, maintaining a blog dedicated to Cuban art from outside the Island, holding social “meets” for art collectors, help artists connect with established galleries, provide grants for large projects, and help create portfolios, web pages, and Wikipedia pages.

In 2020, CANY opened the CANY Online Gallery.
